OUR MISSION
Modesto Art Academy is a community-based art school offering a wide range of classical drawing, painting and sculpting courses; as well as, instructional workshops on fabrication, construction and design. MoArt also offers private or group lessons and a full spectrum of academic lectures. Our Mission is to provide students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities a place to explore the power of art. We are looking forward to meeting you soon and providing you with the most Exceptional Education for the Creative Mind.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Paul Harmon, the founder of MoArt, is an installation and studio artist living in Modesto, California. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he studied Painting and Contemporary Art Theory. Paul earned his MFA in sculpture and Architectural Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
JIM ABUAN
Jim Abuan, is a California-based studio artist. He received his BFA in Painting and Drawing from California State University Stanislaus, Turlock. Jim earned his MFA in Painting from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. He has shown his work in Los Angeles and Northern California and has taught Graphic Arts and Design, and Photography for 17 years.
AMANDA FLAIM
Amanda Flaim is MoArt’s very own Artist-in-Residence & Teaching Artist. She is an interdisciplinary artist with focuses in: textile arts, photography/video, painting, collage and installation art.
Since relocating back to her hometown in the 209, Amanda is excited to spend her time within the unique tapestry of her passions: art, education and mindfulness with MoArt. She will both be diving deeper into her own artistic practice in the studio housed within MoArt as well as teach classes intersecting Fiber Arts & Mindfulness to children, teens and adults.
